Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman who is a businesswoman. She is the current president and controlling shareholder of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is a native of California and was raised as an heir to a prestigious family. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty business tycoon before becoming the owner of the Lakers. After her parents divorced in 1972 and she started to feel as if she was abandoned. Her family's business was started at the age of 19 to become the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. In the future, she established her own Los Angeles Blades pro roller hockey team. She served as the head of the Great Western Forum before assuming the role of vice president of the Lakers. Buss as well as her five sisters inherited his Lakers controlling ownership after the death of Buss' father in 2013. Each of the sisters had equal rights. Buss assumed the role of the President of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also the co-owner in Women of Wrestling a pro-wrestling promotion headquartered within Los Angeles.
